Well, I met up for my date with Mr. M from the Manchester digital media agency. Whilst I’m generally terrible at dating, I recognise the silver lining to every cloud, and that my blushes equal entertainment for some, so I’m happy to divulge.
Mr. M took me to this gorgeous Italian restaurant in Manchester called Rosso – this guy is seriously out of my league. I felt horribly underdressed in my jeans, safe black heels and grungy vest top. I’d envisaged us knocking back a few cocktails in a bar in the Northern Quarter, not being treated to a three course slap up in a fine establishment. So that’s shame point number one.
I had a couple of drinks to relax and then started jabbering away about my obsession with online gaming (note: I called it a hobby). He then followed up by telling me about his favourite pastime – skiing. He’s basically a professional, when he’s not busy being a professional in a high flying digital media agency. Oh, and he also plays football, which I’m sure he’s basically a professional in too because this man can do no wrong. He’s well travelled as well – his love of skiing has seen him go all over Europe – France, Austria, and not to mention his regular holidays to Canada.
All in all, everything was perfect – the food, the guy, the conversation – but I just felt so out of depth! I mean, I absolutely dread to think what Mr. M might say if I told him I enjoyed the world of Cosplay. I didn’t even tell him I like Twilight, for crying out loud.
Bizarrely, he seems keen to meet up again, but I just don’t feel comfortable being entirely….’myself.’ So I’m wondering whether to bother. Hmm, we’ll see, hey.
