Being a dutiful ‘mother’ to my new Maine Coon kitten Tigger, and ensuring I dedicate at least a little bit of my time to training him on account of the alarming size he will eventually grow to, I have sacrificed a good few weekends now of not going out. That roll is due to be broken this weekend in the one and only Manchester, or Madchester, as my friend Amy sometimes calls it. She lives in the Northern Quarter, and, with a great job in a Manchester digital media agency, she can also afford to hit the Northern Quarter bars pretty frequently too.
Chloe and Trendy Trent are currently inseparable, so they’re coming along too, but they’re ‘making a weekend’ of it and booking into a hotel – Chloe mentioned The Manchester Lowry but I checked it out and it looks pretty swanky! Not that I’m putting my best friend down, but Chloe’s the kind of girl that would consider a nightly rate of eighty quid expensive in a hotel, so who knows. Perhaps Trendy Trent is bringing out the true romantic in her (and his wallet out of his pocket!).
I’ll be crashing on Amy’s couch – all of us will be out Saturday night, and we’re planning a total veg day on Sunday. Amy’s a classic hangover sleeper – she doesn’t move from her bed for the majority of the day. I, on the other hand, get hangover insomnia, and struggle to sleep. This shouldn’t be too much of a problem on account of me now having my trusty iPhone 5. I very much intend to make good use of my insomnia, and spend it playing a little online blackjack. I think Atlantis Gold might serve to take my mind off the alcohol induced pounding too, what with all its pretty graphics and lilting theme music. All I can say is, thank goodness for technology. Oh, and I can’t wait for the weekend!
